Danish business group pushes for national drone strategy

The Danish Chamber of Commerce has called for a national strategy for drones.

In a strategy paper launched at the International Drone Show in Odense, the organisation sets out eight recommendations aimed at creating a more coherent and strategic approach to the Danish drone sector.

The proposals seek both to address unauthorised drone activity and to establish predictable framework conditions for the companies, public authorities and research institutions that will develop, test and deploy future drone solutions, according to Thomas Elkjær Nissen, director of defence and emergency management policy at the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

The organisation is calling for the development of a national drone and counter-drone strategy covering both military and civilian applications.

According to the proposal, the strategy should establish clear lines of responsibility, streamline permitting processes, expand testing opportunities and strengthen public-private cooperation.

The stated objective is to ensure that Denmark can leverage drones as a strategic national capability while protecting society against drone-related threats to security, critical infrastructure and essential public functions.

The Danish Chamber of Commerce are one of the largest business organizations in Denmark with more than 400 employees and offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Brussels and New York.
